The first ever Pakistani fashion designer, Altaf Maaneshia featuring his Fall / Winter Collection presented by Style Fashion Week and New York Life benefiting America Heart Association during Mercedes-Benz New York.
“I like to make structured pieces, so what I normally do is I try to mix contemporary and get inspired from the luxury and mix them to make it high-end contemporary. I want to make women look more curvy and more structured.” said Maaneshia.
“I grew up in a town where… nobody knew anything about fashion or that there was a thing called fashion, and that’s where the curiosity and interest came from.” explained Maaneshia.
The designer’s FW 2015 collection prevailed architectural designs with multicolored menswear-inspired capes, coats and jackets paired with pair of pants and high heels –perfect for a New York City’s winter wardrobe. The capes were structured in a variety of styles and lengths including coats with long sleeve, short sleeve or sleeveless for that matter.
The outfits were bold, using geometrical angles in which Maaneshia is known for mixing fabrics such as leather and wool. His apparel is targeted for strong and independent women.
“I will keep designing, keep imagining, keep thinking on how to make women look beautiful, because fashion is a lifestyle, it’s not just clothing.” said Maaneshia.
